Transfers Barcelona Cruise Port
Barcelona Port (Port de Barcelona in catalán) is located between the River Llobregat and the zone of Barceloneta in the city of Barcelona. The Port of Barcelona evolved at the same time as the city, it is a natural port situated on a beach between a small peninsula of Montjuic, and the old river mouth of River Llobregat. With the passage of time the mainland merged with the old island of Maians by forming a breakwater. The successive development of the port, and the accumulation of sand, has the end result that the island has become united to the mainland forming the lands where the barrio of Barceloneta is.
With respect to the transportation of people, it is the busiest port in the Mediterranean for volume of cruise ships and the fourth in the world, only being superceeded by the Caribbean Ports. A large number of cruise ships who operate in the Mediterranean use the Port of Barcelona as their base, such as the Liberty of the Seas, the biggest cruise ship actually operating in the Med. Since 2014 the group Royal Caribbean with Oasis of the Seas, have been scheduling three Med Cruises a year, and from summer 2015 the Allure of the Seas – the largest cruise liner in the world – will be scheduling weekly Mediterranean cruises, both using Barcelona Port as their home port. The Port of Barcelona has 9 passenger terminals distributed between the Moll Adossat, Moll de Barcelona, Moll d'Espanya y Moll de Sant Bertrà, of which six are dedicated to international cruise liners.
